armstrong laminate flooring

You have probably seen some Armstrong Laminate Flooring if you have looked at laminate flooring. Armstrong Flooring Company has been around for 150 years so they have had a long time to develop their products and expertise, but Armstrong Laminate Flooring has been around only a relatively short time. While laminate flooring has been popular in Europe for decades, it has only gained popularity in the United States in the last 20 years. People have discovered the versatility, durability and cost effectiveness of using a product like Armstrong Laminate Flooring instead of using real hardwood, ceramic or stone floors.

Armstrong Laminate Flooring comes in just 3 basic types: wood laminate (which is the most popular and has the most varieties and colors), stone (which imitates natural polished stone or ceramic) and textured (which only has one variety, but comes in a few colors.)

How do you install Armstrong Laminate Flooring? There are 3 basic ways to install laminate. One type of laminate requires gluing to install it. This may be better handled by a professional. The next type of laminate has glue already applied but it must be moistened when you install it. The final type of laminate is the most popular among the do-it-yourselfers-the glueless. It is put together using one of the 2 patented interlocking systems manufactured by Armstrong Laminate Flooring. You can have any of these types installed professionally, but the interlocking system is marketed to people who want to save money by doing it themselves.

In laminate, as in almost any product, you get what you pay for. The least expensive laminate is the lowest quality and durability. If you want it to be very durable, you will need to pay more for the added features such as an aluminum oxide coating. Also the thicker the planks, the better it will perform and last. Remember to include things like underlayment and a moisture barrier when you figure the costs.

You can find Armstrong Laminate along with laminates from dozens of other laminate flooring manufacturers at discount flooring stores in your local area and on the internet.

How To

Cleaning Armstrong Laminate Flooring

Cleaning your Armstrong laminate flooring is easy. There are just a few important things to keep in mind when you clean your laminate flooring. Using proper cleaning products, following directions as provided with your flooring, and the directions for the cleaning products you’ll be using are all important.

Things You’ll Need:
  • Recommended cleaning product
  • Sponge type mop
  • Vacuum cleaner or broom

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy
Step1
Before you begin cleaning your Armstrong laminate flooring you must purchase the proper cleaning product. The surface of your flooring contains aluminum oxide. Aluminum oxide protects your floor form fading, stains and wear. That’s why it is important to choose an approved cleaning product to use on your floor. You don’t want to clean with a solution that could affect the protecting qualities of the aluminum oxide. Most products state on the label whether they are safe for laminate flooring.
Step2
Once you have bought your cleaning product it is time to do the cleaning. As you begin the cleaning process, thoroughly sweep or vacuum your floor. Make sure all movable particles of dirt are removed.
Step3
Next you’re ready to begin using the recommended cleaning product you’ve chosen. Make sure to follow directions as stated on the product. As you’re working don’t allow cleaning solution to puddle on the floor. Less liquid is better. The reason for this is you don’t want moisture seeping into the cracks of the laminate flooring. Most people find that using a traditional string mop doesn’t work well for cleaning laminate. The flat sponge or “Swiffer” type mops work best on laminate.
Step4
Clean your floor in sections, applying the cleaning solution only in the area where you’re currently working. This prevents moisture from standing on the floor so there is no absorption in the seams of your flooring. Simply spread the cleaner on the floor and wipe with your mop. Continue this process until the entire floor is clean.
Step5
For spot cleaning follow the same procedure as above in the affected area.
